packing & cooling
Precision in Every Step
At Perdefontein, our packing and cooling facility lies at the heart of our fruit production. Established in 2009 and expanded in 2017, the packhouse services all our farms, handling approximately 5,500 tonnes of stone and pome fruit annually. With two modern packing lines and five cooling rooms, our facility ensures that every piece of fruit is packed and cooled with care to preserve freshness, quality, and shelf life.

packhouse
Purpose-built to handle fruit from multiple production units, the packhouse was designed for efficiency, scalability, and high-quality handling. In 2017, a second packing line was added to support increased volumes from our expanding orchards. Today, we pack around 5,500 tonnes of stone fruit and pears each season, ensuring every box meets strict standards for both local and international markets.
cooling
Our cooling infrastructure includes four cooling rooms, currently operating under regular atmosphere (RA) conditions. An additional RA cooling room is used as a holding room, allowing for optimal temperature control and improved logistics. These facilities ensure that fruit is rapidly cooled and stored under ideal conditions to maintain its natural quality from orchard to market.
